Abraham Lincoln: “All my life I have tried to pluck a thistle and plant a flower wherever the flower would grow in thought and mind.”
Dale Carnegie: “Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.”
At Taekwondo University our students are all about successfully achieving
their goals. They are taught that success starts with the attitude of being positive. You cannot allow others attitudes of rejection to effect you in a negative way. You must stay positive that you will achieve your goal.
Here is one of the principle they learn to implement in their lives.
The Live Your Potential Champion’s-Attitude Principle
As a Live Your Potential champion, I am committed to excellence in all areas of my life, so that I can live my potential.
I am endowed with the seeds of greatness; therefore, I have a positive attitude, and I look for the best in all things.
Let’s break this principle apart, so we can try to comprehend its value.
“As a Live Your Potential champion.” What does that imply? It implies that you are a champion, as is everyone else who participates in the Live Your Potential Program. How would you like to surround yourself with a group of champions who also accept you as a champion?
“I am committed to excellence in all areas of my life, so that I can live my potential.” We are a complex tri-dimensional individual: Mental, physical & spiritual. To lead an excellent, balanced life, I must strive for excellence in all areas.
“I am endowed with the seeds of greatness.” We are placed on this earth to fulfill a purpose, which is our greatest gift. The seeds to fulfill our purpose are within us. Know this to be true. Cultivate this greatness by planting your seeds in fertile ground, and nurturing your dreams as you bear the fruit of greatness. “Therefore, I have a positive attitude.
When I explain the correct way to perform a Taekwondo pattern to a green belt so that he can become a purple belt, the student understands what is required to perform the pattern. Does he perform it perfectly the first time? No. Does he improve every time he performs it? Yes. Having a positive attitude comes about the same way. It is not something that you are shown one time and then you just magically get it. It has to be shown and practiced many times. Eventually, with repetition, the skill of having a positive attitude becomes part of your life, and you habitually become positive.
“And I look for the best in all things.” The end results of our lives are based on an accumulation of all the thoughts in our lives. So, if you want the best in your life, then you must consistently nurture the attitude that “I look for the best in all things.” As you continue to look for the best in all things, you will find them.
